Frequently Asked
Questions |
|
Q: What is a Brazilian bikini wax?
|
|
A: The Brazilian bikini wax removes most of the hair from the bikini
area. How much hair is removed depends upon personal preference, whether
it's a bare look, a more natural look, or something in between. This is a
very intimate type of waxing and will only be performed after careful
consultation.

|
Q: How is a Brazilian bikini wax
performed?
|
|
A: First the hair is trimmed with scissors, if
necessary, and then wax is applied a little at a time and the hair is
removed from the root. The wax used is made for sensitive skin to minimize
irritation. While waxing, you may be asked to help pull the skin tight in an
area with your hand. Stray hairs are tweezed. A first-aid solution is
applied to the area after waxing to help soothe the skin.

|
Q: How often will I need to wax?
|
|
A: For best results, repeat your professional waxing
every 3 to 4 weeks, depending on your individual hair growth rate.
|
|
Q: What are the possible side effects
of waxing and how can they be minimized?
|
|
A: Most clients experience only mild redness and minor
irritation. Any pinking of the skin should disappear within 6 to 8
hours after waxing. Slight pinking is normal, and indicates that the hair
was removed from the root, rather than superficially broken off, as in
shaving. This is the reason that professional waxing lasts for much longer.
Please follow
these guidelines to minimize irritation.
Avoid the sun immediately after waxing and wear sunscreen; recently waxed
areas are prone to hyperpigmentation (permanent darkening of the skin) if
exposed to the sun.
Avoid heavy exercise for at least 24 hours after waxing.
Avoid saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools and other heated sources for at least
48 hours.
Do not use exfoliating products or loofahs for at least 24 hours after
waxing.
Avoid tight clothing after waxing, especially in the waxed areas.
Regular exfoliation may be helpful, especially on leg and bikini areas.
Routine waxing helps the skin get accustomed to the procedure and may
minimize irritation
Products are available that can be applied topically to avoid in-grown hairs |
